Privacy Policy

Contractor Compliance Tracker ("we," "us," or "the Service") is an informational tracking tool for California Class B contractor license, bond, workers' compensation, and RMO/RME status. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It does not cover the accuracy of contractor license data itself — see the disclaimer in our footer and always confirm with CSLB's Instant License Check.

About the contractor license data

The license, bond, workers' comp, and personnel information you can search on this site is not submitted by anyone — it's sourced directly from the California Contractors State License Board's own public Data Portal, the same public record CSLB itself publishes. We don't collect this data from the contractors it describes, and we can't alter CSLB's record on anyone's behalf. If you believe information about a license is inaccurate, contact CSLB directly.

Information we collect from you

Account information. If you sign in, we collect the email address you provide. We don't use passwords — signing in emails you a one-time link instead.

Watched licenses. If you subscribe and choose to watch a license for alerts, we store which license you're watching and your alert history for it, so we know what to email you about.

Payment information. Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number — we only receive a customer/subscription reference from Stripe to know your subscription is active.

Technical data. Our hosting and email infrastructure (see "Service providers" below) may log standard technical information like IP addresses as part of normal server operation. We don't currently run any analytics or tracking beyond that.

How we use your information

• To send you a sign-in link when you request one
• To send the email alerts you've signed up for (expiration warnings, status changes)
• To process and manage your subscription
• To operate, maintain, and improve the Service

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your email address or watched-license list with anyone except the service providers below, and only as needed to run the Service.

We rely on a small number of third parties to run the Service. Each only receives what it needs to do its job:

Data retention

We keep your account and watched-license information for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us (below) and we'll remove it.

Your choices

• Searching license status doesn't require an account.
• You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account page.
• You can request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of your personal information by emailing us below.

California residents

If you're a California resident, you may have additional rights under California law regarding your personal information, including the right to know what we collect and the right to request deletion. Contact us below to make a request.

Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your information, including encrypted connections and provider-managed database security. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we don't store payment card details ourselves, which limits what could ever be exposed if something went wrong on our end.

Children's privacy

This Service is intended for licensed contractors and business owners, not children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above.
